What We do

At the Parish Caritas Group of St Teresa’s, we are dedicated to making a significant difference in our local community. The work we do within the parish environment embodies the principles of compassion, solidarity, and service that are integral to our Catholic faith. We understand that our community in the Ashford area presents a variety of needs and we are committed to addressing these. To this end, we are privileged to collaborate with a network of local outreach charities and actions, offering regular support and actively participating in their initiatives.

Our work is diverse and dynamic, constantly adapting to meet the evolving needs of our community. Here are some of the activities and initiatives we’re currently involved in:

Local Collections for the Poor and Food Banks

In close partnership with the Salvation Army and local food banks, we organise regular collections to support those less fortunate in our community. These collections provide essential food supplies, ensuring no one in our local community goes without food. This locally-focused approach ensures that aid is directed where it is most needed within our immediate community.

Please help us and donate!
There are collection boxes available in the church hallway wvery day (open between 9-11am).

Fundraising for Upcoming Needs and Emergency Life Events

Life’s unpredictability often presents challenges that are difficult to navigate alone. Whether it’s an unforeseen flood, an accident, or any other emergency life event, we mobilise to fundraise and provide local support where it’s needed most.

Supporting Refugees

Responding to the global refugee crisis, we extend our support to those seeking refuge. We offer assistance in various ways, from providing essential items to aiding in their resettlement process, ensuring our community is welcoming and supportive.

Helping Vulnerable People

We are committed to assisting the most vulnerable individuals in our community. Our efforts are directed at providing support to those who are elderly, sick, homeless, or otherwise vulnerable, asserting their dignity and worth.

Community Café (Café Caritas)

Café Caritas offers a safe and welcoming space for people from around the Ashford area to meet for coffee, tea, and conversation. Our aim is to foster community, friendship, and connection amongst our parishioners and neighbours.

Collection and Support for Mothers with Children

We acknowledge the difficulties many mothers face, particularly those raising children under challenging circumstances. We organise collections and provide support to these mothers, which may include essential baby items, clothing, or emotional support and understanding.

In all that we do, we strive to live out the Gospel’s message of love and service. We are always looking for more volunteers and partners to join us in this mission. If you feel called to help, we invite you to get involved. Your support could make a significant difference in someone’s life.

Join us today, because together, we can foster a more compassionate and just world in our local community. Remember, every act of kindness counts.

Together, we are Caritas
